Ag cruthú próifíle:

  • Ar dtús báire, déan cinnte go bhfuil do phróifíl soiléir agus go bhfuil cuma gairmiúil air.

  • Coinnigh do chúntas suas chun dáta go minic. Déan nuashonrú ar do chuid sonraí, ar nós do theideal garimiúla, áit, tionscal agus oideachas. Agus tú ag coinneáil do phróifíl ábhartha, tá do phróifíl níos gníomhaí agus ciallaíonn sé sin go léireófar do phróifíl i measc próifílí eile i gcurdacha . Mar sin de, thiocfadh le do phfróifíl daoine a mhealladh chun súil a chaitheamh uirthi agus chun teagmháil a dhéanamh leat.

  • Tá do ghrianghraf an-thábhachtach mar léiríonn sé do phearsantacht. Ná bain úsáid as grianghrafanna atá doiléir agus ná gearr pictúir ghrúpa go ghriangfhraf níos beaga - coinnigh é soiléir agus go próifisiúnta i gcónaí.

  • Scríobh achoimre garid; mar a dhéanfá ar do CV. Ni minic a ghlacann daoine am dul tríd aon próifíl ar dtús, agus is deis í an achoimre sin chun réamhrá a thabhairt fút féin chun solas a chur ar do chuid scileanna agus chun do shainghnéithe a lua.

Ag baint úsáid as LinkedIn:

  • Is í príomhaidhm LinkedIn daoine a chur i dteagmháíl lena chéile, intreoir a dhéanamh idir daoine eile ar mhaith leo aithne a bheith acu ar a chéile. Tá sé níos fusa ná riamh bualadh le daoine nua ar bhonn proifisiúnta mar gheall ar LinkedIn, rud atá an-luachmhar san earnáil Ghaeilge. Agus tú ag buaileadh le daoine ag obair le Gaeilge trí LinkedIn, bíonn an deis ann chun comhoibriú a dhéanamh le daoine agus le eagraíochtaí a bhfuil comh-shuimeanna acu.

  • Tá ‘LinkedIn Groups’ go maith le plé a dhéanamh le daoine a bhfuil na suimeanna céanna acu. Tá go leor grúpaí ann do ghach aon tionscal agus earnáil, le grúpaí agus eagraíochtaí Gaeilge san áireamh. Nuair a théann tú isteach sna grúpaí seo, agus tú ag cur leis an chomrá, beidh do phróifíl níos infheicthe, níos gníomhaí agus foghlaimeoidh tú eolas luachmhar.

  • Nuair a amharcann tú ar phróifílí, roinneann LinkedIn do shonraí pearsanta maidir le d’ainm agus do theideal leis an duine sin. Ma tá tú ag iarraidh d’ainm a choinneáil faoi cheilt, thig leat na socraithe príobháideachais a bhainistiú faoin nasc ‘Account & Settings’ agus thig leat iad a athrú ma tá tú ag iarraidh bheith níos caolchúisí nuair atá tú ag déanamh taighde.

  • Íoslódáil an Aip - seolfar teachtaireachtaí agus fograí go díreach chuig do ghúthán agus tá sé i bhfad níos fusa bheith suas chun dáta le do chuid teagmhálacha.

  • Bain úsáid as teachtaireachtaí príobhaideacha chun teagmháil a dhéanamh le daoine go díreach agus go pearsanta. Is modh níos éifeachtaí é ag caint le daoine nua seachas iad ag cur le do phróifíl.

  • Is deis iontach é LinkedIn chun do chuid oibre a léiriú agus chun do chuid scileanna agus taithí a léirsiú agus mar sin de, thig leat do chuid ailt nó tionscadail a roinnt ar an suíomh.

With the many social media sites that individuals and organisations are using these days to stay in touch with others, it’s unsurprising that more and more use is being made of social media for professional reasons. Organisations are looking to the site to seek out potential employees, find out about the work of different organisations and to learn from others’ experiences. LinkedIn has sometimes been considered as an online platform for CVs which remains static and unengaging, but, when used correctly, LinkedIn can become a great resource for connecting with others, learning about your industry and demonstrating your skills.

Here are a few tips for making your profile stand out among the crowd and to get the best out of the site:

Creating your profile

  • Firstly, make sure your profile is clear and professional looking

  • Keep your profile updated regularly. Update your professional headlines/titles, location, industry, education. Keeping your profile relevant means that you will show up in the right searches and catch the attention of those who you could connect with.

  • Your profile picture is very important as it can reflect your own personality; avoid using blurry photos or cropping a larger group photo – keep it clear and professional.

  • Write a short summary, like you would on a CV. People don’t often spend that much time looking at a particular profile at first, and this summary gives you an opportunity to provide a short introduction about yourself, highlight your skills and to mention your specialities.

  • People like to be entertained on sites liked LinkedIn. Add links to documents, photos, videos or presentations to make your work easily accessible and visible. It will also become much more memorable.

Using LinkedIn

  • LinkedIn is all about connecting with people you know, people you know of and people you want to know. The website has made networking and reaching out to new people easier than ever, something that is so valuable in the Irish Language sector. Meeting people in the Irish Language sector through LinkedIn provides the opportunity to co-operate with similar people and organisations.

  • LinkedIn Groups are a fantastic way of engaging with people with similar interests. There are groups for all different industries and sectors, including a group of Irish Language Organisations and Workers. By joining the group and adding to the conversation, you can make your profile more visible and also learn valuable information.

  • Other services that LinkedIn provides include LinkedIn Learning which includes advice and courses for public speaking and designing a CV.

Ways to boost your profile further

  • Whenever you view someone's profile, LinkedIn will share your name and headline. If you want to hide your name, you can manage privacy under ‘Account & Settings’ that offer other, less revealing options if you’d prefer to be more subtle about your research.

  • Download the App – notifications and messages will be sent to your phone instantaneously and make it much easier to keep up to date with connections

  • Make use of direct messaging to connect with people directly and personally, it’s a much more effective way of engaging with new contacts than simply adding them to your network

  • Whether it’s articles that you’ve written or projects that you’ve been working on, LinkedIn is a great way of showcasing your work and demonstrating your skills and experience

To sum up, LinkedIn is a great resource which can be very beneficial when used correctly. Taking a little time to update your profile, engage with connections and take a look around the site can be great for either your own career or the work of your organisation.
